June and July UNIT BY UNIT

JUNE and JULY UNIT BY UNIT -SUMMER

A special thanks to Kristie who designs the new Shabby Princess line for BoBunny and her own websites The Shabby Shoppe and The Shabby Princess. Truly beautiful papers and downloads. I love them. So glad I asked her to help us out here and she said yes!!! You can read Kristie’s blog here http://shabbyprincess.typepad.com/shabby_princess/

Our fourth and fifth unit this month will be for summer units of June and July photos. I am sending them together since they are so related. Use these background images for any summer photo

You can choose completely WHATEVER THEME suits your next group of photos. These soft florals are great for almost any theme. Or use/download another set that goes with your photos.

To get the great artwork featured here, you will need to go to the SHABBY PRINCESS website and download the set CELEBRATING. Make a mental note of where you saved it to in your computer folders. It will be in ZIPPED format and you will need to unzip it. Use free trial versions of WINZIP or another program to do this. Instructions on unzipping files is found here.

Create your whole INTRO page digitally if you prefer! This artwork is awesome. Shop her site for more freebies and for her paid artwork too. Once you learn how to unzip a file and use the art clips, you will be amazed at the quickness of this process. You don’t need a 12x12 printer either. Use the printer you have with acid free cardstock and then cut out your elements. Just mix and match her 4th of July and Celebrating art clips with your own pattern paper stash!

If you don't need this theme, skip the themed artwork and make the same sketch into another theme that you DO plan to use for the pages in your book. Either way, you have 2 to 3 days to make your INTRO pages for APRIL and get the rest of your pics for the march unit into slip in sleeves or pages to follow that INTRO set.

Basic JUNE OR JULY sketch: Use up to 4 photos on this one page! This sketch can be used for ANY theme not just these featured this week. Need more than one page or have more horizontal photos? Rotate it one turn to the right for each different INTRO page and it will still coordinate! (Sketch by K. Aho)

See this Sample! Here is a page using roughly the same scheme! My daughter and I designed this one using the Shabby Princess Celebrate artwork.

We can see how this sketch can look as a Celebrating 4th of July style page.

Don't feel you have to have all this same stuff. IMPROVISE using papers and accents you have on hand. Just do the page! J

Need a title?

Create your own 4th of July title like mine in the upper left hand circle of my page sample by using Kristies artwork in the set. Or do your own thing.

Need other titles? Scrapbook.com has a nice list for you here. You can create your title on a 4x6 card too. Just place your own chosen title wording in the format shown on the 4x6 card idea sketch below.

Just need a 4x6?

If you just need a 4x6 title card idea, use this format for the 4x6 slip in sleeve. Your choice of wording of course! See the links above or titles.

TIPS: Use what you have. Don't get bogged down. Try not to use what you see here unless you are stuck for ideas and supplies. Don't get stuck in details. If going digital is too hard, use what else you have! Do a great job but don't procrastinate over tiny decisions. We want to get June and July both all finished up as soon as we can!
Start sorting!! Start scrapping!!

A Special thanks to Kristie of Shabby Princess at

for agreeing to share her digital freebie artworks with us. They are truly beautiful. Thanks Kristie! We can scrap even more photos into our albums with these beautiful accompaniments. Not having the perfect accent art or lettering is no longer an excuse for our summer UNIT challenge!
