SEPTEMBER UNIT BY UNIT ideas

Here is a pic of the freebie download for the September Unit Challenge --love it!

Here comes our SEPTEMBER unit and this is a truly AWESOME unit! This SHABBY PRINCESS digital art FALL set will be great for such a variety of photo pages!
The colors are so cozy and delish! This art set and sketch will work beautifully for a nice fall walk, pumpkin patches, back to school, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Here is the sketch. (K. Aho)

And here is the Back to School page sample. Love it!!

Don't feel you have to have all this same stuff. IMPROVISE using papers and accents you have on hand. Just do the page!

Need some accents or artwork?

To get the great artwork featured here, you will need to go to the SHABBY PRINCESS website and download the set SHABBBY FALL Make a mental note of where you saved it to in your computer folders. It will be in ZIPPED format and you will need to unzip it. Use free trial versions of WINZIP or another program to do this. Instructions on unzipping files is found here.

<>Need a title?
Create your own Back to School or September layout pages using the downloaded aplphabet set from SHABBY PRINCESS in this set. Or do your own thing. I am sure you might have sitcker letters or rub ons with a simular look.

Need other titles? Scrapbook.com has a nice list for you here. You can create your title on a 4x6 card too. Just place your own chosen title wording in the format shown on the 4x6 card idea sketch below.

Just need a 4x6?
If you just need a 4x6 title card idea, use this format for the 4x6 slip in sleeve. Your choice of wording of course! See the links above for titles. Sketch by K. Aho.

Need a Journaling box?

Want a quick-to-print option? Check out all the FREE recipe cards online (that don't say recipe on them!) They are usually 3x5 which is perfect for matting on a 4x6 cardstock piece, they have the lines fro writing already printed on them, and they usually have wonderful clip art already sized and inserted! Here is one of my favorite spots for freebie 3x5 recipe cards for journaling boxes! Don't overlook the longer printable shopping lists and labels for the same purposes!

TIPS
: Use what you have. Don't get bogged down. Try not to use what you see here unless you are stuck for ideas and supplies. Don't get stuck in details. If going digital is too hard, use what else you have! Do a great job but don't procrastinate over tiny decisions. We want to get September and the rest of your fall pics all finished up as soon as we can!

Start sorting!! Start scrapping!!

<>A Special thanks to Kristie of Shabby Princess at
http://www.shabbyprincess.com for agreeing to share her digital freebie artworks with us. They are truly beautiful. Thanks Kristie! We can scrap even more photos into our albums with these beautiful accompaniments. August may be the time for winding down our summer fun, but it also means we are in the homestretch on our UNIT BY UNIT challenges. Only a few more Units left to this year! Coming next: Halloween ideas.

Let's get busy!

So I've been downloading the stuff from shabby princess but I'm not doing digital, so I still don't completely understand how to use this stuff. Do we just print off the pieces we like and use them like store bought stuff? I only have a B&W laser printer, so i guess I'd have to color everything in anyway??

Thanks for helping a clueless one :)

If your printer is only black and white, it may not work too well with the colored things but the alphabets might still be useful. When you get a color printer you can either print and cut out to use items or layer them and print out a finished page. Check the tutorials links given in the other blog entry for tips on how to get started using your downloads.
