Sept Challenge: Altered Clipboards

Image
Jessica B at The Shabby Shoppe Gallery made this wonderful example: http://www.theshabbyshoppe.com/photopost/data/505/0806_shabbyclipboard.jpg Here is a great intro to these beauties http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_home_accessories/article/0,1789,HGTV_3255_4224856,00.html and another article on them http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Techniques/Altered_Art/423.php You can either make them with photos and with lumpy elements and hang them up as a display piece or make them without photos and lumps for actual use to write on. I have made them both ways. One as a gift for actual use and one with more embellishments for display. You can also make them to hold 8.5x11 office calendars for the new year. Use some papers, photos and embellishments that reflect the interests of the person you are giving it to. These take about an hour to do with Mod Podge and overnight to dry. I usually try to make several at a time and minimise the time taken and the mess made! If using Digital artwork, make sure y

Journaling Jar Challenge

Image
example by Shannalamb of Two Peas in a Bucket I sent a bunch of links like this several years ago to our Scrapperschallenge loop so I think it is time to do so again! The interest in making journaling jars as gifts or conversation jars for the supper table is popular to do for holidays as gifts. Cut and paste the questions to a word document and make sure each one has enough space below it so you can cut the questions into seperate strips with your paper trimmer. Alter a mason jar or a cookie jar to put the slips into. Decorate and gift it. Make one for your own family at the same time. general instructions on how to do these jars http://www.jorbins.com/crafts-magazine/articles/journal-jar.html Links to questions for your jar http://www.christysclipart.com/journal_jar_yw.htm http://www.omnicron.com/~fluzby/sister-share/journal.htm http://www.scrapyourstories.com/journaljars.htm http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art962.asp and here are pics of what they can look like http://www.twopea
