Hi, Rock! I haven't seen this exact doodad but it looks very similar to the little clips that the dry cleaners use to hold sleeves in place. Theirs are clear plastic with little teeth, and I think they would work really well for the ribbon. Looks like a floss holder that the ribbon is on?? The hangers that socks come on are a bit bigger than what is shown but are usually black and a bit bigger.
Hope that helps...

Evenin' Rock - I believe you are correct about the sock hangers. They are a bit bigger than what this one appears to be but bascially the same thing.

They are on button cards for buttons with shanks and they are also sold in hardware section and used to prevent a part from slipping out of an opening.

They look similar to the clips that sometimes come on new, folded dress shirts. The sock thing you are thinking about would be much bigger, but the shirt clips would be perfect for this purpose.

Scrapbook companies have been doing a lot of the re-purposing thing now-a-days. Remember the 'Buttoneer' from the '70's? It's now out as a scrapping tool!

I just recently bought some at my local SBS. I believe they are by Cropper Hopper and are ribbon holders.

These little clips come on a majority of new clothing before they process them to be taken to a retail sales floor. To hold the item in a shape that will help keep out wrinkles, etc... if you go to your local Walmart or clothing store and make an inquiry, I wouldn't doubt if they would put a little jar to collect them for you while they are processing the clothes for you.
Just a thought. I used to help process clothing and we had these all the time everywhere. You can also see them in some lingerie areas helping the bras stay on the hangers, etc...

They also look like the clips that come on fabric bolts. As I work at Jo-Ann, I've seen lots of them, usually on the floor LOL.

Up late here doing some packing for a crop tomorrow! I'm excited, have page kits ready!! Been to the store and bought new things!
I know what those clips are used for- they keep collars stand-up nice and neat on dress shirts that you buy. Cindy:-)B<

I was thinking too big... it looks like the little clips that used to come with electric curlers to me. I guess if you had a big old wad of ribbon then you could re-purpose my little gizmo!

My first thought was the hanger for socks as well. I have seen way to many of those jewels. I wish I would have kept them like I do medicine bottles!!! Ya just never know what will come in handy!!

I think these look like the clips that hold a bra onto its hanger in the store.
