UNIT BY UNIT August and the last days of summer

Here is a pic of the freebie download for the AUGUST Unit...isn't it pretty?

Here comes our AUGUST unit and this is a truly AWESOME unit! Your memories might include anything from picnics, gardening, family events, little cutie pies, water parks, poolside fun, or just a sunshiney day. This Unit and this set are for you. This SHABBY PRINCESS digital art SPLENDID set will be great for such a variety of photo pages!

The colors are so yummy! Whether it is travel, beach scenes or anything from the last days of summer. This art set and sketch will work beautifully! This set is so versatile, it would even work for catching up on your floral gardening or wonderful Mom and Pop parent pages! Everything goes with stripes, dots and paisley! Truly versatile and full of eyepopping colorful cuteness!

Here is the sketch. (K. Aho)

And here is the page sample I did with this set for a ValleyFair Waterpark page layout for my daughter and her bf on a physics class trip to the waterpark. (Hence the hearts and xxooxx's) :)

Don't feel you have to have all this same stuff. IMPROVISE using papers and accents you have on hand. Just do the page!

Need some accents or artwork?

To get the great artwork featured here, you will need to go to the SHABBY PRINCESS website and download the set SPLENDID Make a mental note of where you saved it to in your computer folders. It will be in ZIPPED format and you will need to unzip it. Use free trial versions of WINZIP or another program to do this. Instructions on unzipping files is found here.

Need a title?

Create your own Days of Summer layout pages using the downloaded aplphabet set from SHABBY PRINCESS in the set. Or do your own thing.

Need other titles? Scrapbook.com has a nice list for you here. You can create your title on a 4x6 card too. Just place your own chosen title wording in the format shown on the 4x6 card idea sketch below.

Need a Journaling box?
Want a quick-to-print option? Check out all the FREE recipe cards online (that don't say recipe on them!) They are usually 3x5 which is perfect for matting on a 4x6 cardstock piece, they have the lines fro writing already printed on them, and they usually have wonderful clip art already sized and inserted! Here is one of my favorite spots for freebie 3x5 recipe cards for journaling boxes! Don't overlook the longer printable shopping lists and labels for the same purposes!

TIPS: Use what you have. Don't get bogged down. Try not to use what you see here unless you are stuck for ideas and supplies. Don't get stuck in details. If going digital is too hard, use what else you have! Do a great job but don't procrastinate over tiny decisions. We want to get AUGUST and the rest of your summertime pics all finished up as soon as we can!
Start sorting!! Start scrapping!!

A Special thanks to Kristie of Shabby Princess at

for agreeing to share her digital freebie artworks with us. They are truly beautiful. Thanks Kristie! We can scrap even more photos into our albums with these beautiful accompaniments. August may be the time for winding down our summer fun, but it also means we are in the homestretch on our UNIT BY UNIT challenges. Only a few more Units left to this year! Let's get busy!
