Rock, I use yarn/fibers in my scrapbboking all the time. I use it on tags to hqang them by and sometimes I even use it for borders or in one case I used jute as the ties on a scarecrows pants and shirt. I have also used the jute as belts on figures that I made using paper piecing. It is fun and I love fibers as much (if not more than I love ribbon).

My New Year's Resolution was to learn how to knit. I've learned and now I'm quickly becoming addicted. So while I'm dealing with my scrapbooking funk and lack of motivation in that hobby, I've found a way to feel my creative monster with another craft.

I use yarn for tags, cards have used green yarn for grass, One of my grandsons scraps with me and he loves to use yarn in his scrap book and he makes book marks with yarn and i alsoo crochet

I have lots of uses for yarn - tags (an obvious one), to go around the outside of photos (as a sort of "photo mat"), to run across the top of the page as a "clothes line" to "hang" photos on (with mini clips), to attach charms, and (I haven't tried this yet), as part of a paper-pieced tent (for camping photos) as the tent ropes. I also have a book currently out of the library on 200 different braids, so I'd also suggest braiding different yarns together to make customized braids to use on scrapbooking pages and other crafting projects.

Some of those yarns are really pretty. I use yarns and fibers on tags, wrapped around my cards, sometimes used like a clothes line to hang things on.

I love love loev fibers. I use them for tags, I love using them on cards and hanging charms off of them, or add them to embishments to give it a more dramatci look. I also use them with ribbon charms, ( who said it's just for ribbons) Lately I have been making shadow boxes and I use it for grass, or the rays for the sun. ( the fuzzy kind, I made a sun from toilet paper and a candy mold, after I painted it when it dried, I used a fuzzy type fiber on the back of it so looks like rays comming from behind)

I use my fibers for a variety of things on my scrapbook pages. I use it and tie them up in bows and put them dangling over pictures, down the sides for borders, around things to outline them. I also use them on tags and journal boxes and sometimes even shaker boxes. I use it to lace up the back and make books, to decorate altered jounal books. I have a large variety of uses. I also do other crafts that I can use them in. I have used it to dangle letter beads across the top of a page for a title. I recently did a book for my grandmother with older pictures of her and my grandfather when they were newly married, and I used them and gathered some of them up and put a vitage looking button in the center and just hung the loop on the page next to the photos.

That's all I can think of right now, but I use them frequently.

I must confess I rarely use fibers however since joining Scrappers Challenge I have gotten a renewed interest in scrapbooking and have already done as many pages as I did in 2007. Thus far I have mainly used ribbons as borders and fibers for hanging tags

Hi Rock,
I just used yarn-like fibers three different ways on a layout two days ago. I wrapped the bottom of a tag with one kind, tied the top of the same tag with another, and laced the two sides of the layout with a third. Sounds busy, but came out well. I may be teaching that particular layout as a class at my LSS.
I also use ribbon for the usual, such as border covers, ties, bookbinding, etc.

Hi Rock,

I just love to use ribbons & fibres on my pages - it's very seldom that a page doesn't have them:) Because of this I'm always trying to think of different ways to use them.

My latest was a paper piecing page with a tree that I tied small ribbons all over to look like little fruit / flowers - looks really cute if I say so myself.

Don't have a photo of this page yet otherwise I'd let you take a peek.

I use fiber in many of the same ways as other, I have braided it for borders, hang tags, the clothesline use for photos or a title, tag across the bottom and at the top, border around photos, or just a simple strip across to bring the focus to that picture, over the top of photo corners

I am new to scrapbooking so my tip may seem basic but I like to use the yarn to make pocket seams on pockets on my pages and I love to use it at the top of tags or to loop several shapes (like circles or squares with rub-on letters) together for a title.

I haven't started using fibers in my scrapbooking, yet. However, I do use them in my card making. I love the feathery eyelash yarns for whimsy and the metallics when I make Christmas cards and need a bit of sparkle. I have been thinking about using some of the tags for journaling and know I'll need fibers for accents there as well.

I use fibers on tags, to make the waves of the ocean, wrapped around a slide mount, in a bow. I have added fibers to cards as well.

Rock - I use yarn and fibers in my scrapbooking quite a bit. I tend use them to frame a prominant picture or as a accent along the sides, top or bottom of the pages. I also have a scrapbook that features all of my knitted creations. I keep the label and a snipet of the yarn along with a picture of what was made and comments about the project. For me, its a great way to enjoy both of my favorite hobbies!

A Spiral Christmas Tree Skirt

Here you see a  gift I just finished this morning for my daughter. It is a spiral bargello style quilted tree skirt. I sewed on it all Saturday and Sunday this weekend and just had the ties to sew on this morning. It's an early Christmas gift kind of like the one I made for my son and his wife a few weeks ago .  T his spiral design my daughter chose also uses a 10 degree wedge ruler but is about 1/3 more time consuming than the randomly placed 5 inch charm square wedge style because you have to spend more time getting the strip formation right.  There was a SULKY brand online tut o rial and pattern for a single color repeat but I liked the slower color change better seen in the t wo photos below . I think the spiral design is enhanced by the more gradual color change. I saw these two spirals below on Google Images but they only led me to p icture link s and not a tutorial.
