Thank You's







Some of you have asked what the 75 Thank You For Your Prayers cards looked like that I made this week for Bryan's parents to use. Here are some pics. They were done with his favorite color scheme-oranges.
White cardstock bases were 5.5x8.5 and folded in half. I used 5 sheets of stripe paper and 3 sheets of floral stripe cut into 4 x 5.25 for the base of the front and then 1 x 5.25 for the narrow strip on the faces of the card fronts. I used a martha stewart punch and a tiny acrylic stamp THANKS on front anchored with a black brad in a double layer of silk flower. I pulled my own silk flowers in both the large and small size stems from Michaels. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS stamp is from Archivers in Mall of America. I used this stamp inside the card on a tag and on the envelope front. I don't know the stamp brand off hand. Envelope fronts were stamped in lower left and chalked with orange and red. Back flap of envelope (not shown) was stamped with a tiny flower --also chalked in orange.
Sometimes you just have to do a little something to help out --and I hope this helps this family. Use your talent to help someone out this week. Just do it. :)

Oh my gosh, Rock -- the cards are BEAUTIFUL. What a wonderful, thoughtful gift. I think Bryan's parents will be really touched.

Thank you Gretchyn. I picked papers that I knew Bryan would have LOVED. He was learning to scrapbook with my daughter (because he wanted to be an art major) and he loved rustic oranges and the look of shabby inked Basic Grey papers etc. It was the right thing to do for them.

Beautiful cards. I really like the idea you have for doing cards with the left overs from pages. It was very sweet for you to do this for Bryan's parents. I'm sure they appreciate it more than you will ever know.

A Spiral Christmas Tree Skirt

Here you see a  gift I just finished this morning for my daughter. It is a spiral bargello style quilted tree skirt. I sewed on it all Saturday and Sunday this weekend and just had the ties to sew on this morning. It's an early Christmas gift kind of like the one I made for my son and his wife a few weeks ago .  T his spiral design my daughter chose also uses a 10 degree wedge ruler but is about 1/3 more time consuming than the randomly placed 5 inch charm square wedge style because you have to spend more time getting the strip formation right.  There was a SULKY brand online tut o rial and pattern for a single color repeat but I liked the slower color change better seen in the t wo photos below . I think the spiral design is enhanced by the more gradual color change. I saw these two spirals below on Google Images but they only led me to p icture link s and not a tutorial.
